Ozcare's Dementia Advisory and Support Service

Ozcare's Dementia Advisory and Support Service assists people living with dementia, their family and their carers.

Ozcare provides quality health and community services to clients across Queensland. These services are available to all members of the community.
A Dementia Advisor is able to talk with you about local services and support. A home visit can be helpful for providing strategies in the home.

How to find other Dementia support services

Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre (CRCC) is a good starting point for Respite Services. 

CRCC are information centres for older people, people with disabilities and those who provide care and services. Centres provide free and confidential information on community aged care, disability and other support services available in your local area or anywhere within Australia.

Dementia -The Caring Experience is a wonderful resource that provides carers of people with dementia with information, advice and support. The carer information, stories and ideas in this book come directly from carers and service providers throughout Australia, and is provided courtesy of the Australian Government.

You can read or download the current version of the document in the meantime and the revised version is due to become available from the Department of Health and Ageing.

 A range of dementia support services are included below:

  • Carers Queensland (Carer Support) 
    The purpose of Carers Queensland is to improve the lives of carers. They provide important services like counselling, advice, advocacy, education and training. They also promote the recognition of carers to governments, businesses and the public.

  • Home and Community Care (HACC) 
    This program helps people stay at home and in their community. HACC is a joint Commonwealth, State and Territory initiative. It funds basic maintenance and support services to help frail older people and younger people with disabilities to continue living in their community.
